I’d like to thank Ray Bradbury and his book “Zen in the Art of Writing” for giving me the answer to the last day of the challenge. I’d been fretting about this day for the entire challenge and the stinking answer had been right there, literally in front of my face the entire time. How zen is that?
This is a book that I always keep close. Even if you’re not a big fan of Ray Bradbury’s work (I am), this is an incredibly inspirational book. In it, Bradbury mostly talks about his experiences in writing, but also gives some great advice on how to stoke your creativity, take care of your muse and to me, most importantly, how to really let go and just enjoy the process. Because frankly, if it’s not enjoyable, why bother?
Anybody out there read it? Any other Bradbury fans in the house? What’s your favorite? I’m partial to “I Sing the Body Electric” and “Something Wicked this Way Comes.”
Well everybody, I’ve really enjoyed this challenge and have LOVED meeting so many new and talented people. I can’t wait to see how you continue with your blogs outside of the challenge.
I’ll be back on Monday with an interview with “Soulkeepers” author G.P. Ching. You can check out her website here.

Congrats on making it to the end of the challenge. I can’t say I’ve ever read anything by Bradbury, though I have heard of him. Fahrenheit 451 caught my eye, though, because of the topic.
It has been a great challenge, a little rough at times, but I think a good time has been had by all!
congrats on making it through
I’ve wanted to get into writing, but am almost too critical of it. Then again, “they” say that you are your worst critic. This sounds like an interesting book, and maybe something I need to get the ball rolling and courage to express myself. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just started reading the book not too long ago and have found it really inspirational and…I don’t know, honest is the best way I can describe it at the moment. I feel like this is one of those books that I’m going to be reading over and over again through the years.
I haven’t read too much of Ray Bradbury’s other works but I can say that Fahrenheit 451 was a book that had a big impact on me when I was younger.
Hi Anita, Thanks for stopping by! Honest is a great way to describe that book. Writing isn’t always easy or fun, but when it is, it’s wonderful. I think Bradbury captures that really well.
