In this day and age, we all have to use software of some kind for our writing. Be it just plain old MS Word, Dramatica Pro, yWriter, or any other of the special programs developed for writers. Some of these will actually help you develop plot and characters, some will organize notes, etc.
Up until now, I’ve just used Word and Excel. Word, to write obviously, and Excel to organize notes, characters. I’m thinking of checking out some of the other programs available though.
Do you use any specialized software for your writing? If so, which one?

I do not, just Microsoft Word. But then I’m more of a stubby pencil kind of gal. Often I transfer my stubby pencil notes into Word.
for blogging, I use Word and cut and paste into the blog – I’ve lost posts by blogging right strait onto the blog.
When the Muse is bombarding me, I use Word.
When the muse is being a little more leisurely, I write with a pencil.
I compose poetry in a notebook.
I know it creates more paper clutter, but I like to have something tangible that I can put my hands on, read and write more notes onto.
I used yWriter for the rewrite.
I looooove it for the simple reason that I can create notes and character sheets without leaving my writing screen. It keeps track of my daily word counts, targets and a variety of stuff that I don’t even have to use.
Only annoying thing: I have to copy paste to Word if I want my cp’s to read it.
yWriter sounds neat. I just use Word. It’s what I am used to and I hate trying to get used to knew software. It makes me very cranky.
